-
1. Narrow A-pillars
Narrow A-pillars increase visibility for the driver.
-
2. Electronic Instrument Panel
Industry’s first electronic instrument panel with LCD display can be programmed for customer specific messages or graphics.
-
3. Recessed Overhead Control Panel
Recessed overhead control panel provides access to the controls and instrumentation and gives the overall area a clean appearance.
-
4. LED Headlights
Industry’s first LED headlights have better visibility, and can accommodate many of today’s bike racks with no interference.
-
5. SmartRider™ Ramp
SmartRider™ provides unmatched accessibility and kneeling to variable heights with less than 10″ step height when fully kneeled. The SmartRider™ ramp can achieve a 1:6 slope ratio with a self-leveling feature and is rated up to 1000 lbs.
-
6. Aisle
Distance between streetside and curbside wheel wells is 34″, providing a wider and more accessible pathway for people with disabilities.
-
7. Narrow Window Posts
Narrow window posts (5″) and larger windows with low window line (42.5″ in height) for greater visibility.
-
8. Rear Step
Angled rear step designed for natural ingress/egress of passengers.
-
9. Side Panels
Fiberglass side panels are continuous, resulting in fewer exterior seams, better aesthetics, improved manufacturability, better protection against water intrusion, and less body movement which minimizes rattles or leaks as the vehicle ages.
-
10. Hinged Corner Pillars
Hinged corner pillars for easy access to components and systems for regular maintenance.
-
11. Mirrors & Cameras
Mirrors and camera screens enable the driver to see all the way to the rear of the bus and monitor the rear exit door from inside.

Improved efficiency and lower operating costs.
- Weighs 8% less than previous models achieved through structure optimization and lighter weight supplier components, leading to improved efficiency and lower operating costs.
- Delivers up to 8% fuel savings, reducing overall cost of ownership.
Significant difference in air quality.
Xcelsior® clean diesel combines ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel, advanced engines, and effective emissions controls, resulting in a highly efficient and virtually smoke-free engine that can achieve lower emissions, reduce GHGs, and reduce the cost of bus operation.
-
90%
Reduction in non-methane hydrocarbon (NMHC) emissions.
-
95%
Reduction in NOx emissions.
-
80%
Reduction in particulate matter emissions.
Emission standards.
New Flyer clean diesel buses conform to the EPA and NHTSA comprehensive Heavy-Duty National Program that reduces greenhouse gas emissions and fuel consumption for heavy-duty highway vehicles.
According to the EPA and NHTSA, the final phase 2 greenhouse gas emissions standards (including heavy-duty vehicles produced from 2021-2027) are expected to:
- Lower CO2 emissions by approximately 1.1 billion metric tons.
- Save vehicle owners fuel costs of about $170 billion.
- Reduce oil consumption by up to two billion barrels over the lifetime of the vehicles sold under the program.
