(TSX:NFI.UN) (“New Flyer” or the “Company”), the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit vehicles in Canada and the United States, announced today that it has been named as one of Canada’s Top100 Employers for 2011. This is the sixth consecutive year that New Flyer has received this acknowledgement.

Paul Soubry, New Flyer’s President and CEO, stated “We are once again thrilled to receive this award and feel that it is attributable to our continued commitment to organizational excellence.  We have created and continually reinforce a culture based on three simple goals: a better product, a better workplace, a better world.”

New Flyer is committed to being a Great Place to Work and the team continues to work together to achieve its mission to “Deliver the best bus value and support for life”.   New Flyer was selected for its industry-leading practices, such as competitive compensation programs and a committed focus to our great place to work strategy.  Programs acknowledged include unique training opportunities, employee involvement, benefit and retirement programs, and company events.

“Each year, we implement new programs and initiatives for our employees and we continue to renew and strengthen our focus on employee participation and communication through our intranet, town hall and round table meetings and active social committees.  Becoming a great place to work is a core element of our business strategy”, said Janice Harper, New Flyer’s Vice President, Human Resources. “It is such an honor to have our efforts recognized.”

The annual Canada’s Top 100 Employers award recognizes employers who are industry leaders in attracting and retaining employees. Each year, Mediacorp examines the recruitment histories of over 75,000 employers across Canada. From this initial group, Mediacorp invites 10,000 of the fastest-growing employers, plus 6,000 other companies and organizations in industries that Mediacorp editors wants to examine more closely, to apply for this year’s competition.
