The 60-foot, zero-emission bus from New Flyer can travel up to 140 miles on a single charge.
King County Metro Transit received its first of 40 zero-emission battery-electric coaches on April 6.
Purchased from New Flyer, these 60-foot battery-electric buses can hold up to 120 people including the driver and can travel approximately 140 miles on a single charge.
King County Metro says it is committed to the transition of its fleet to 100 percent zero-emission vehicles powered by renewable energy. This coach is the start of achieving that goal by 2040, or sooner, as technology and capital projects allow.
After testing, the coach is slated to begin service this fall.
In early February, King County Metro said it ordered 20 additional 60-foot battery-electric buses from New Flyer following an 18-month electric bus evaluation that was initiated in 2018.
