ARBOC Secures Order for Eight Spirit of Mobility Fully Accessible Cutaway Buses for Radford Transit

Middlebury, Indiana, USA – November 13, 2018: (TSX: NFI) ARBOC Specialty Vehicles, LLC (“ARBOC”), a U.S. subsidiary of NFI Group Inc. (“NFI”), the largest transit bus and motor coach manufacturer and parts distributor in North America, today announced that Radford Transit (“Radford”) in Virginia has awarded ARBOC with an order for eight Spirit of Mobility ® (“Mobility”) low-floor, body-on-chassis (“cutaway”) transit buses. The order was procured through ARBOC’s US dealer, Sonny Merryman.

The Mobility buses are low-floor vehicles capable of “kneeling”, making the boarding process efficient and fully accessible, while maintaining Radford’s 100 percent ADA (American’s with Disabilities Act) compliant fleet. The order will replace older, existing buses in the fleet and supplement three ARBOC buses purchased in 2017.

“ARBOC is proud to rejuvinate Radford’s fleet with more efficient, comfortable, and reliable vehicles,” said Don Roberts, President, ARBOC. “As a leader in progressing accessibility throughout North America, we are thrilled to support Radford’s goal of providing accessible transit to all.”

“The Mobility has been a great fit for Radford Transit,” adds Mark Roberts, Sonny Merryman. “We are excited to further increase mobility with this order.”

Operated by New River Valley Community Services (NRVCS), Radford Transit provides public transit to the citizens of Radford, Radford University students, faculty and staff and those who live in surrounding areas.

“These new buses help Radford provide a transportation system that is safe, reliable, and convenient,” said Trevor Sakry, NRVCS. “They are a great addition to our 20-bus fleet.”

Radford Transit was established in 2011 through a joint partnership between Radford University, Radford City, the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, and the Federal Transit Administration.

ARBOC has been innovating accessible transit for North Americans since 2008. The company estimates that nearly 70% of North America’s low-floor cutaway buses are manufactured by ARBOC.
