A $25 million investment at Anniston’s New Flyer facility will bring much welcomed jobs to the area.
“This is fantastic , it’s a great place to locate a business,” said Anniston Mayor Jack Draper.
Those at New Flyer agree and that’s why they chose the Anniston campus to get even bigger.
“The work force here is fantastic , the state government support is absolutely incredible and we just love Alabama,” said President Wayne Joseph.
New Flyer of America is tucked away off Highway 78.
Crowds of employees were on hand and just as excited about Friday morning’s announcement.
The company is the largest transit bus and motor coach manufacturer and parts distributor in North America.
“The immediate plan is only to add maybe 30 to 40 employees,” Joseph said. “But we could be talking about hundreds of employees if the opportunity arises.”
Still, for Calhoun County an area with an improved unemployment rate, this news is only good news and reflects a trend seen statewide.
“This is the fifth consecutive month that we’ve had unemployment decline , huge good news,” said Gov. Kay Ivey
