Metro Transit in Halifax Awards New Flyer a New Contract for 80 40-Foot Xcelsior Buses

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada – May 17, 2013:  (TSX:NFI; TSX:NFI.DB.U) New Flyer Industries Inc. (“New Flyer” or the “Company”), the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in Canada and the United States, announced today that Halifax Regional Council has approved the purchase of up to 80 Xcelsior™ clean diesel 40-foot heavy-duty buses for use by Metro Transit of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

The contract contains a firm order of 22 40-foot clean diesel buses with options to purchase an additional 58 buses at a later date.  Metro Transit currently has a fleet of 331 active transit buses of which 182 of those buses are New Flyer.

Metro Transit of Halifax’s firm order for 22 Xcelsior™ buses are anticipated to begin production in the third quarter of 2013 with all buses expected to be delivered by the end of 2013.
