New Flyer Announces Supplier Delivery Awards for 2009 Calendar Year

Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; April 13, 2010; New Flyer Industries Inc. (TSX:NFI.UN) (“New Flyer” or the “Company”), the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit vehicles in Canada and the United States, announced today that it will issue Supplier Delivery Performance Awards to qualified Suppliers for their performance in the 2009 calendar year. This is the second consecutive year that New Flyer is recognizing exceptional delivery performance with formal awards.

The Supplier Delivery Performance Awards are presented to suppliers with shipment volumes to New Flyer production facilities above 50 per year and an overall on-time performance level of at least 95% or higher.  The distribution of awards for 2009 consists of 35 Gold, 18 Silver and 23 Bronze awards. Gold awards recognize delivery performance that exceeds 99% on-time delivery.  The award winners are posted on the Company’s web site at www.www.newflyer.com.

Patrick Boenders, New Flyer’s Director of Supply Management, states, “Since our Supplier Performance Assessment Program was launched in 2007, overall Supplier delivery performance to our three production facilities has increased to 97% on-time performance, with 2% early and 1% late accounting for the difference. There has been a substantial improvement from baseline performance that existed prior to the formal delivery performance measurement process and the process changes that came with it. We are pleased to note that with the success of this program and our Suppliers’ strong commitment to it, we have been able to eliminate our warehouses and deliver all incoming parts direct to the point of use on the production line as well as successfully launch iSupplier, our order management Web Portal used for all communications with our suppliers.”
