Former TransLink CEO to Join New Flyer’s Board of Directors
Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, November 9, 2009;
New Flyer
Industries Inc. (TSX:NFI.UN) (“New Flyer” or the “Company”), the leading
manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in Canada and the United States,
announced today that Ms. Pat Jacobsen has been invited and has agreed to join
its Board of Directors. Ms. Jacobsen also sits on the boards of Revera Inc.,
Port Metro Vancouver and the BC Cancer Foundation.

Ms. Jacobsen served as the CEO of
TransLink in Vancouver, BC, from 2001 to 2008 before retiring. During her tenure
at TransLink, Ms. Jacobsen demonstrated planning and strategic leadership which
led to ridership increases, new major capital projects and Canada’s first
transit police force, which improved safety and security for operators and
passengers. TransLink is the 11th largest transit system in Canada and the U.S.
and provides over 300 million passenger trips per year.
Prior to
TransLink, Ms. Jacobsen served as the President and CEO of the Manitoba Workers’
Compensation Board in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She has also held senior positions at
Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, Manulife Insurance Company and the Government
of Ontario, where her last position was Deputy Minister of Transportation. Ms.
Jacobsen has been honoured with many awards, most notably for her efforts in
sustainability and holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Manitoba. It
is expected that Ms. Jacobsen will be formally appointed to the New Flyer board
at the quarterly meeting to be held on November 12,
2009.
