Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, New Flyer Industries Inc. (TSX:NFI.UN) (“New Flyer” or the
“Company”), the leading manufacturer of heavy-duty transit buses in Canada and
the United States, will be opening a new Parts Distribution Center (“PDC”) in
Fresno, CA on July 1, 2009. This is the
third PDC for New Flyer Parts; the other two PDCs are in Winnipeg,
MB and Erlanger,
KY.
“We are thrilled to be able to
improve our service to our customers,” said Hans
Peper, Executive Vice President of Customer Services. “This new facility allows us to significantly
reduce part delivery times. This
localized inventory may also allow customers to reduce stock levels and
inventory costs, which are additional benefits.” The Fresno PDC is planning to carry the
majority of the inventory used by customers on the US West Coast. This opening represents another step in New
Flyer’s long-term strategy of providing industry-leading customer support.
In 2008, New Flyer opened its
second PDC in Erlanger, Kentucky, and the response has been very
positive. Both the Erlanger and Fresno locations were
selected because of their geographic locations and access to major highways,
airports and shipping routes, which provide faster shipping and better
service.
With the opening of this third
PDC, New Flyer now offers two-day ground service to the majority of customers
in both the US and Canada, which is unique within the transit industry. “The transition for our customers will be
seamless,” said Cathy Bambrick,
Director of New Flyer Parts. “Customers will
continue to contact their regular Account Managers and Customer Service Teams. Our distribution strategy is focused on decreased
transit time, allowing our customers to get their buses back on the road
sooner.”
New Flyer Parts is a critical part
of the New Flyer’s Customer Services Group which employs over 150 dedicated
team members. It provides genuine original equipment and specialty brands of
service parts to all makes and models of transit buses, as well as special
inventory planning services to its customer base.
