Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; April 26, 2006; New Flyer Industries Inc. (TSX:NFI.UN) announced today that a conciliator has been appointed by the Province of Manitoba to assist the Company and the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW) collective bargaining unit at the Company’s Winnipeg facility in reaching a new collective bargaining agreement. The previous collective bargaining agreement with the CAW unit expired at midnight on March 31, 2006, and the CAW members have been on strike since April 5, 2006.

The appointment of a conciliator was requested by the CAW unit and was agreed to by the Company. The parties will meet on Friday April 28, 2006 to participate in non-binding conciliation to determine if an agreement can be reached. The Province has also set a tentative meeting date of Monday May 8, 2006 in the event that the parties desire further conciliation assistance.

New Flyer is continuing to transfer its bus shell operations of its Winnipeg plant to its Crookston, Minnesota and St. Cloud, Minnesota manufacturing facilities and continues to manufacture and deliver buses to its customers from those facilities. The Company’s efforts to increase its labor force for the St. Cloud facility to respond to the increase in US production have been successful to date. The Winnipeg plant’s unionized workforce represents approximately 37 percent of New Flyer’s total workforce in the US and Canada.
