Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada; February 16, 2006;

On Friday, February 10, 2006, New Flyer Industries was proud to present the pilot Bus Rapid Transit vehicle to Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA). The Advanced Style pilot vehicle will be used for testing and training purposes and the subsequent 20 buses in this order will be used in service on Cleveland’s Euclid Corridor Silver Line.

The five-door BRT vehicle incorporates hybrid technology and New Flyer’s proven and reliable standard articulated bus platform with a redesigned exterior for improved curb appeal. The exterior features a sleeker, more aerodynamic front mask, a continuous roof cover, redesigned mirrors, a one-piece windshield and wheel covers. The redesigned interior includes an advanced lighting system, curved stanchions, sleek sidewall and ceiling panels, increased leg room, interior bike racks and ten security cameras.

New Flyer’s Advanced Style exterior originally made its debut at the APTA EXPO in Dallas, TX in September 2005, along with New Flyer’s Restyled standard bus. Both received very positive feedback from transit agencies, the media and other APTA EXPO participants. The Advanced Style exterior is currently available on 40- and 60-foot models. The Restyled exterior is available on 30-, 35-, 40- and 60-foot buses.
